Coventry Car Day, organised by Coventry University, celebrated the great cars of the past and present, particularly those with a link to the city and looked ahead to the vehicles of the future.
This podcast includes a welcome speech by the University VC Professor Madeleine Atkins CBE ,as well as a keynote speech from Sir John Egan , former chief executive of Jaguar and chancellor of Coventry University.
The symposium as a whole was chaired by Professor Martin Woolley Associate Dean of Applied Research at Coventry University.

A car-themed ‘Question Time’ took place in The Hub, giving attendees & enthusiasts the opportunity to ask questions and share thoughts with a panel of automotive industry luminaries. This Q&A session was chaired by Autocar magazine editor-in-chief Steve Cropley.

Sir Nick Scheele came and spoke on “the changing role of the British motor industry in the development and manufacturing of cars – past, present and future”, for this year’s Bugatti Lecture.
Sir Nick, who was President and Chief Operating Officer of the Ford Motor Company.
Sir Nick’s impressive career also saw him complete tenures as chairman and CEO of Jaguar Cars from 1992 to 1999, as chancellor of the University of Warwick from 2002 to 2008 and as president of Coventry Transport Museum from 2006 to the present. In 2001 he was knighted for services to British exports.
