Health Inequality - Dr Colin Thunhurst
Dr Colin Thunhurst, Principal Lecturer in Public Health at Coventry University and Director of the Applied Research Group in Public Health offers critique of the predominant biomedical approach to human health.
He argues for a dramatic shift in emphasis and resources towards ‘upstream’ interventions that seek to prevent illness. Such an approach, he argues, takes us away from the ‘downstream’ emphasis on ‘ill health’ to one that focuses on the social, economic and cultural determinants in health.
